The world is changing rapidly. We’re making homes more sustainable, installing home batteries, upgrading systems, and seeking ever-smarter solutions for energy storage and use. But amid all these great plans, one important question is sometimes overlooked: who’s actually going to do all that work?
The energy transition places enormous demands on our skilled workers. Installers and technicians must install increasingly larger and heavier components, often in spaces where there is barely any room. That is precisely why we must take good care of the people who make this work possible every day. Lighter lifting not only means a lower risk of physical ailments, but also greater job satisfaction and a profession that people can continue to practice in good health for longer.
At Gevelridder, we’re seeing this clearly. More and more of our solutions are finding their way into the energy sector and building services engineering. Home batteries are a good example. A battery weighing more than 70 kilograms is quite common these days, and models weighing 100 to 120 kilograms are certainly no exception.
But how do you safely install a battery like that when it has to be placed in a small utility room, garage, basement, or narrow passageway? Lifting it with two people sounds simple—until you have to rotate it, tilt it, or position it at the right height.
That’s where smart hoisting comes in.
High lifting capacity, especially in tight spaces
One of Gevelridder’s strengths is that our equipment doesn’t have to be large to handle heavy-duty work. In fact, The Cannon and the Gevelridder Nautic can be used in places where a traditional crane or large lifting machine simply cannot reach.
In narrow passageways, small utility rooms, or close to a wall, the load can be lifted in a controlled manner and positioned with precision. No need for unnecessary lugging—just let the machine do the heavy lifting.
And that principle isn’t limited to home batteries. Facade-mounted solutions are also used in the field of installation engineering for installing and replacing, for example , valves, gas meters, and other heavy installation components. These tasks are often particularly challenging because space is limited and a technician must lift and install components with precision at the same time.
With a good lifting or hoisting solution, the professional can focus on what they do best: the craftsmanship itself.
Working smarter also means working more sustainably
For us, the energy transition is therefore not just about solar panels, batteries, or new technologies. Sustainability is also about people.
If we want professionals to be able to continue doing their work healthily and happily for years to come, we need to stop thinking that heavy lifting is simply part of the job. A 120-kilogram battery doesn’t have to be wrestled into place by two or three people using brute force when it can be handled in a controlled and ergonomic manner.
That’s exactly what we at Gevelridder believe in:
Smart hoisting. Less heavy lifting. More enjoyment at work.
This is how we contribute, in our own way, to a more beautiful and sustainable world. Not only by providing solutions for the energy transition, but above all by keeping in mind the people who ultimately have to carry out the work.
Because no matter how technical the world becomes, one thing remains central to Gevelridder:
the human touch.
